Leyte is  one  of   the  leading  high-grade  abaca  fiber  and  pulp  producer in the country. Some 10,724 hectares of land is planted with abaca  representing  37% of Leyte's total land area.  Pulp is the leading abaca export with Japan, United States of America  and   European countries as  export markets.

Leyte ranks  first in  terms of  area planted with coconut  in  the Eastern  Visayas  region  with a  total of 200,837 hectares. This figure  represents  32%  of  the  region's  total  area  planted  with coconut.

Leyte  abounds with  natural   allures,  rich culture    and   rare   historical landmarks.  The  presence  of  these tourism assets makes Leyte  an  ideal  travel destination  for  local and foreign tourists, and a viable site for tourism-related investments.  The  Pintados-Kasadyaan  Festival, is a much-awaited annual event  showcasing   the  unique  culture, colorful history   and  indigenous  cultural songs and dances of  the people of  Leyte   and  Samar.

LIDE is a   435-hectare fully developed industrial area in Isabel, Leyte that  houses two  major industries, the    Philippine  Associated   Smelting  and   Refining   Corporation  (PASAR),   and  the  Philippine  Phosphate  Fertilizer Corporation   (PHILPHOS). PASAR produces over 172,000 MT of copper cathodes per year.
