GOVERNOR CARLOS JERICHO L. PETILLA
Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla is now serving his third and last
consecutive term as provincial governor of Leyte. His political career
began in 2004 when he was elected governor of the province. In his last
term as head of the provincial government, Gov. Petilla avidly expanded
his service not just for the province of Leyte but the entire Eastern
Visayas region as well. He is now the chairman of the Regional
Development Council (RDC), the primary institution in the region which
sets the direction of economic and social development of the region and
through which regional development efforts are coordinated. Gov. Petilla
also heads the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC), a body that
formulates plans and recommends such measures that will improve or
enhance the peace and order and public safety in the region.

Gov. Petilla is currently keeping up his programs for
the development of the province and his people through the delivery of
basic social services. These include the provision of health insurance
to indigent families, construction and rehabilitation of public schools,
providing access roads and bridges to far-flung villages, and other
projects. He also sustained programs on the
promotion of trade and investment in the province, tourism and
information and communications technology.
Before his entrance to local politics, Gov. Petilla
taught for a number of years at the
Ateneo de Manila University and served as consultant to various
companies such as Meralco,
Security Bank, and
Philippine Phosphate Fertilizer
Corp. (Philphos).
Gov. Petilla's business interest include the
International Data Conversion Solution, Inc. located in Mandaluyong City
and Accudata, Inc. in Tacloban City, where is the President and Chief
Executive Officer. He is also the part-owner and consultant of
DirectData Capture with business office in the United Kingdom and New
York and Datahold in the Isle of Man, United Kingdom.
Gov. Petilla was born on April 29, 1963 in Palo, a
historical and progressive municipality in the province. He is the son
of former Leyte Gov. Leopoldo E. Petilla and Palo Mayor Remedios L.
Petilla, who also served as governor of the province and representative
of the first congressional district of Leyte.
He spent his elementary school years at
the Leyte Normal Laboratory School and studied high school at the Leyte
Research and Development High School and later at the Ateneo de Manila
University. He successfully completed his college studies at the Ateneo
de Manila University where he took up BS Management Engineering.
Gov.
Petilla is married to Frances Ann Regis Basilio of Cebu City and
together they have five children Carlos Anthony, Nicola Marie, Jose
Lorenzo, Frances Mikayla and Danika Pilar.
